Keynote Speech
Prof. Edward Melhuish
Professor of Human Development Department of Education, University of Oxford
Prof. Edward Melhuish delivered a keynote address on Early Experience, Long-term Development and the Wealth of Nations. He argued that early experience and successful early education have a huge and long-term impact on children development, employability and even physical and mental health. This has been demonstrated in his research on education in developed countries such as the UK and the US, as well as in developing countries such as Cuba. Professor Melhuish also has a systematic approach to the psychological issues that arise in children, especially in the complex social and family environment in which they grow up.
Prof. Baocun LIU
Director of Institute of International and Comparative Education, Beijing Normal University
Professor Liu delivered a keynote speech introducing the meaning and structure of global competence and the ways to implement it in education. Teachers and schools are an important part of talent development. Firstly, in terms of approach, apart from offering global competence courses, global competence-related topics can be incorporated into traditional classrooms to make them more interesting. Secondly, the vision and cultural concept of global competence should be infused into students at an ideological level.
