“Innovation Shapes the World . Innovation Makes the Future”Sino-British STEM Education Seminar were successfully held in Beijing
On the afternoon of April 3, 2019, the “Innovation Shapes the World . Innovation Makes the Future”Sino-British STEM Education Seminar& Launching Ceremony of the 4th Cambridge & Oxford Elite Students China Lecture Circuit and the 2019 Future Engineer International Youth STEM Challenge held by the STEM Education Research Center of the National Institute of Education Sciences, the First Landing Education (FLE) of the United Kingdom, and the Association of Education and Technology were successfully held in the official residence of the British Ambassador.

Ms. Liu Jing, Head of Education of Technology and Higher Education of Department of International Trade, British Embassy in China, Executive Chairman of The Association of Education and Technology, Founder and CEO of First Landing Education, Ms. Sabrina WU, Mr. Liu Zhigang, Assistant Director of STEM Education Research Center, Mr. Mark Langley, Head of Science CPD, National STEM Education Center, Mr. Ian Mercer,Director of International operation department, The Institution of Engineering and Technology , Professor Zhou Rongting, Director of Science and Technology Communication Department, University of Science and Technology, China Mr. Ma Qiang, Senior Business Director of the Science Communication Bureau of the Academy of Sciences, and many other expert teachers from Chinese and British institutions, more than 60 primary and secondary school principals across the country, and eight elite students from Oxford and Cambridge attended and participated in the event.
This is the fourth Cambridge & Oxford Elite Students China Lecture Circuit. Each event has been strongly supported by the Chinese and British governments and related institutions. This event gets all-round support from the British Embassy, the STEM Education Research Center of the National Institute of Education Sciences, the UK Department of International Trade, the Institution of Engineering and Technology, the UK National STEM Education Center, and the ARM China and other institutional associations.
Ms. Sabrina WU, founder and CEO of FLE in the UK and Executive Chairman of the Association of Educational and Technology gave welcome speech. First of all, Ms. Sabrina expressed her sincere welcome and heartfelt thanks to guests on behalf of the organizers of the STEM Education Research Center of the National Institute of Education Sciences , the Association of Educational and Technology Association and First Landing Education. Ms. Sabrina said that innovative education is an eternal trend and she believed that this seminar would play a unique and far-reaching significance for promoting international exchange of STEM education and enhancing students' core literacy and comprehensive ability. And she also hoped to expand the communication channels of Sino-British STEM field through this activity, and bring the exchanges and cooperation between China and the UK in the field of science and technology education field through STEM education, and jointly explore the educational concept of innovative talents.
Guest Speech
Subsequently, the meeting entered the expert keynote session. Mr. Liu Zhigang, Assistant Director of the STEM Education Research Center of the National Institute of Education Sciences, on behalf of Ms. Wang Su, Director of the STEM Education Research Center, introduced the “China STEM2029 Innovation Action Plan” (hereinafter referred to as the “Plan”) and the main work content of 2019. This program would be guided by openness, cooperation, synergy, inclusiveness and innovation, emphasizing the popularity of participating institutions, and calling for more social forces to collaborate on STEM education innovation; promoting STEM education to benefit all students, especially special group students. And it was hoped to be able to cultivate innovative thinking and scientific inquiry ability. The measurement of the learning process changes the evaluation method and innovation training mode, which gained wide attention from all walks of life in the short period of one year. In the speech, Mr. Liu Zhigang also highlighted the 2019 Second "Future Engineers" International Youth STEM Challenge will be held in Cambridge in August this year, and expressed great expectations and confidence in this event.
Subsequently, Mr. Mark Langley, head of science CPD of the National STEM Education Center of the United Kingdom, introduced the background and development goals of the UK National STEM Education Center. The UK STEM education is quite competitive in the world. In the speech, Mr.Mark Langley gave a comprehensive introduction on the development history, development status and development trend of STEM education in the UK. and shared the valuable experience of STEM education promotion, especially teacher training, in the UK National STEM Education Center with workers of on-site Chinese education community.
Student Speech
The student representative Mr. Lukas Fieber gave a speech on behalf of elite students of Oxbridge. Lukas said that he was very pleased to be invited to participate in the 4th Oxbridge Elite Students' China Lecture Circuit hoping to have deep interaction and experience with Chinese youth in the event and experience Chinese traditional culture.
Launching Ceremony
At this point, all guests speeches come to an end. The 4th Oxbridge Elite Students' China Lecture Circuit and the 2019 "Future Engineer" International Youth STEM Challenge are officially launched. The launching ceremony is initiated by five important guests from China and the UK. The five bottles of colored sand slowly fell, indicating that the Sino-British educational exchanges and cooperation will usher in a beautiful future. FLE will also adhere to the original intention, build a platform for Sino-British exchanges and cooperation, and do its best to promote the development of Chinese education.
